Best fishing techniques for spring walleye in Canada
The best bet in early spring walleye is trolling, so bring minnows to put on a jig, spinner jig, or split-shot lures.
Spring is a great time to bring the family out and try simple techniques for spring walleye fishing from shore due to the walleye being in cold, shallow water, for example a river mouth.

As water temperatures warm in late spring and early summer of Canada, pack a spinner rig to use with minnows, worms and leeches, or crankbaits such as Shad Raps, Wally Divers, and Redfins does the trick. A good trolling motor is always a great help.
In the spring, select a 1/8 to 3/8 ounce jig with a soft plastic twister tail or shad bodies, marabou feathers or bucktail. Attach a minnow, worm or leech.
